    Export quotas

The Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement was ratified by the Indonesian Government on 6 May 2020. Its associated quotas will come into force on 5 July 2020.

The Australian Government supports Australian agricultural exports by facilitating trade. We negotiate bilateral and multilateral agreements with trading partners.

These agreements can include reduced tariff rate arrangements for certain products. These are administered via quotas. Exporters can get reduced import taxes on a certain volume of goods into a particular country. This can save money for Australian businesses.

Quotas can be administered by an authority in either the importing or exporting country.

    What we do

We manage 40 quotas. The way we issue a quota certificate depends on the product and its destination.

For an allocated quota, we issue a certificate to exporters who have an allocation. The certificate covers the volume of the quota request (either in kilograms, tonnes, litres or pieces).

Some quotas are not allocated. We issue certificates on a first-come, first-served basis.

    How to apply

Quotas are managed according to a schedule. Check our quota calendar for timeframes.
