    Forests of Northern Australia maps

    Released 30 April 2020

    The Cooperative Research Centre for Developing Northern Australia has released maps of forests in northern Australia prepared by ABARES within its report, Northern forestry and forest products situational analysis. The extent of northern Australia in this analysis includes Western Australia and Queensland north of the Tropic of Capricorn and the entire Northern Territory.


    Australia’s native forest – data visualisation

    Released 28 April 2020

    The aim of this product is to provide users with greater access to Australia's native forest types by state or territory, tenure, crown cover, height and Indigenous ownership and management category. This visualisation brings together data from the three national datasets used to prepare Australia's State of the Forests Report 2018 and the Australian forest profiles series. These datasets are Forests of Australia, Tenure of Australia's forests, and Australia's Indigenous forest estate.

    Forest fire area data for the 2019-20 summer bushfire season in southern and eastern Australia

    During the 2019–20 bushfire season, the southern and eastern parts of the Australia have experienced multiple large-scale and intense fires. The Forest fire area data for the 2019-20 summer bushfire season in southern and eastern Australia dataset is a set of tables that show the area of Australia’s forests burnt during this bushfire season in southern and eastern Australia, by jurisdiction, forest category and forest tenure.

    New product now available - MDB water market dataset

    The MDB water market dataset is a new product that provides information on water availability, market outcomes, irrigation activity, climatic conditions and commodity prices for a consistent set of catchment regions in the Murray-Darling Basin.

    Improving agricultural statistics

    The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment?is committed to delivering accurate, timely and reliable analysis and data about Australian agriculture. As the department’s research arm, ABARES is working with the? Australian Bureau of Statistics to modernise the agricultural statistics system. Modernisation will ensure the long term sustainability of the system by reducing survey burden, particularly for farmers, reducing data collection costs and improving the quality of statistics.

    Australian Agricultural Census 2015-16 visualisations
